Las Vegas, NV--Ya’ ready for this? McCarran International Airport, in Las Vegas, NV now has a liquor store right in baggage claim. That’s right! Now starring in Terminal 1 between Baggage claim “1” and “2”. The officially, first non-duty-free liquor store in any airport in the United States of America. It’s quite fitting, for, Las Vegas being the party town that it is. You now can save some time and cash (instead of telling your driver to stop by the liquor store, before the driver gets you to your hotel, wasting your hour limo ride or burning up your cash on that forever moving taxi meter that’s running).
Liquor Library, just opened on, Monday, November 5, 2012, right before election day. No votes were needed to be tally here. Many patrons and passengers are unaware that the conveince of “Liquor Library” is even there. Liquor Library is open 7 days a week from 8am-11pm. Clark County government (the ones that runs the airport) made a good move, by seeing the void due to the new Terminal 3 airport’s hot mess (I will go there on another blog post).
Terminal 3 (also known as T3) is now open and has taken with it five (5) domestic airline companies; Alaska Airlines, Frontier, Jet Blue, United/Continental and Sun Country. Also, three (3) international airline companies Volaris, Virgin International and Hawaiian Airlines now with arrivals and departures. So if you land there, due to your frequently flyer miles, you can tell your driver to take you to T1. The driver, will take you to zero level, and let you go inside.
On a budget? No problamo! Take the free inter-terminal shuttle bus at door 5 (they run every 5-10 minutes throughout the day, to and from T1 and T3). You will arrive on Zero Level at T1. Take the elevator to Level 1. Exit out of the elevator to the left. You will see baggage claim posted with numbers. Keep left and walk down a little further, right at baggage claim “1”. In my Emeril Lagasses’ voice “Bam”! There it is! Your library collection of drinks! Hurry up and buy (if the meter is running), or not. If you were lucky enough to fly directly into Terminal 1 (T1), while waiting for your luggage, to come in, or right after you get your luggage. You can stop by and purchase your favorite bottle that you drink and then go hail your driver off the curb or go back to your limo driver downstair on zero level.
The prices are similar to the strip’s liquor prices. Most bottles and beers are under $30.00. Don’t get it twisted, this is Vegas and they do have top shelf stuff, and guess what? It sits on the top shelf, where the friendly faux-pas librarians (cashiers) will climb a ladder to help you, get to your 25 year old Scott bottle, that will set you back $1,000. Thus, the name of the store, Library Liquor. It’s set up like a library. One exception, the only thing you’ll be reading is, the collection of drinks and prices of your bottles!
Either way, this store sounds like a hit! If you lose your luggage, your going to need a drink. When you get here your going to get a drink. On your flight you didn’t have enough to drink. In all ways, it’s a win-win situation! Now take your bottle, your luggage, and get a driver and just sit back, relax and welcome to Viva Las Vegas.
Cheers!
